Ferret Camp

by Robin Walter

“When senior U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist Randy Matchett invited me to visit Ferret Camp this past July, I expected summer camp. Instead of campers, I found prairie dogs. Instead of log cabins, I saw dozens of little metal cages. Instead of a lice check, the field crew was checking for plague.”

The Art of Slow Moving: A Journey Through America’s Grasslands on Horseback

by Robin Walter

“Equally thrilled and terrified, we began to organize 300 pounds of gear into the four pack boxes we would live out of for the next 82 days. Help two CC alums ‘Rediscover’ the Prairie

by Edie Adelstein

“In 1806, Thomas Jefferson predicted that it would take 100 generations or more to inhabit the western U.S. He had sent Lewis and Clark to forge a path from the Missouri River to the sea and inspect the vast lands the country had just acquired via the Louisiana Purchase.

It didn’t take 100 generations. It took five…

Pretty scary, right? And I only know this much because of Robin Walter and Sebastian Tsocanos, two 2012 Colorado College graduates who are now raising money for their project, Rediscover the Prairie.”
